Qualifying for Financial Aid
Some people forgo college because they think that they will never be able to afford it. This is a big mistake! Financial aid is available to those who need it. Read this article to learn more about qualifying for financial aid and how financial aid can help you pay for college.
Many people automatically assume that they will not qualify for financial aid. However, these assumptions are often wrong. Financial aid is easier to obtain than you might think. Plus, it costs absolutely nothing to apply.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid
If you want to be considered for government scholarships, grants, work-study programs, and general aid, you will need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As the name indicates, there is no charge to apply. You don't even have to be admitted into a school to fill out the form.
When to Apply for Financial Aid
You should apply for financial aid as soon as possible. As mentioned above, you do not need to wait until you have been accepted into college. In fact, you shouldn't wait. If possible, fill out the form and send it in immediately after January 1st. This will greatly increase your chances of qualifying for financial aid.
